Behaviour of small animal populations in function of time and space including Multiworm path tracking. Wmicrotracker SMART is optimized for path tracking of animals cultured in liquid, solid or air medium by using a 35mm Petri dish. It has been validated for tracking of C.elegans cultured on NGM. Its integration with the 8x carousel (8 plates with a moving carousel) allows performing automated kinetics of multiple plates, as well as fully automated lifespan and healthspan experiments using C.elegans.

Features:

  • Simple and highly reproducible readings.
  • Detection of infrared microbeam diffraction, without morphometry.
  • Infrared imaging plus image processing.
  • Non-invasive technology - uses very low power infrared radiation, without affecting the animal’s behavior.
  • Detects worms even on bacteria layers (compatible with RNAi experiments and microbiota research).
  • Fast data processing - calculates the movement in real time, with 5minutes time block resolution.
  • Uses standard PC using Microsoft Windows. Wireless compatible.

Application Examples:

C.elegans Tracking System

20 adult C.elegans cultured in a 35mm Petri Dish with NGM+FuDR. Data acquisition has been performed once a day, using 5 minute acquisition lapse. Plates were subjected to “tap” stimulation before each measure. The plot shows the single worms trails on the plate, and its reduction with age.
